Inspiring social change in sport with the support of community based yoga

Our history

It all started when…
Dragonfly was launched in 2016, by Mark Lancaster, a sports coach and physio and founder and CEO of Gmax Trackstars Athletics Academy, which was borne out of the 2012 Olympics legacy. Gmax Trackstars Athletics Academy is a registered charity (charity no.1138783) that supports local young people, providing coaching in running, jumping and throwing.

The academy helps those, often from disadvantaged backgrounds, to train with professional coaches with many young athletes competing at a national level thanks to the charity’s stewardship.

Dragonfly Yoga was set up by Mark as a community initiative and fundraising activity for Gmax. Apart from running costs, 100% of the profits from Dragonfly Yoga are driven back into the charity.

Zoe Cornwall

Zoe is a trained Dancer who first found PILATES while training at LABAN she has been teaching Mat Pilates since 2006, qualified in Dynamic Reformer for over 5 years and her most recent qualification is as an Air Control Pilates Teacher, which is Aerial Pilates, she is the first AirControlTeacher to be based in London.Zoe teaches at a number of Pilates Studios in and around London teaching classes as well as personal training and rehab as well as delivering high quality Mat Classes with Better gyms in her local area.

Whilst dancing Zoe started to work in the fitness industry as a group exercise instructor and personal trainer. During this time she suffered a car accident, which ended her performance career. During rehab she drew on my Pilates training from her dance days at Laban to help with her back issues. Maybe because of her dance training being a precise form of movement this really appealed to her and this led her into teaching Pilates.

“I am passionate about helping people get the most out of life and learning how to take control of their bodies”.

Nikolett Puspoki

Niki’s overall aim is to help people get know their body and to approach poses with focus and feeling. She thinks a good practice not only feeds the body but also nourishes the soul. Niki has a warm, friendly and caring manner.

She has an interest in yoga for women and how yoga can support women’s menstrual and life cycle.

Deliah Seefluth

Originally from Germany, Deliah trained as a professional dancer in Munich, New York and later in London to obtain an MA in Choreography.

Before getting to know the very dynamic Power Yoga and Rocket Yoga practice in London she deepened her knowledge in Hatha Yoga through Workshops with Yogacharya Jadranko Miklec from 2008 onwards and also practiced TM (Transcendental Meditation). It wasn’t until moving abroad when Yoga has really become an integral part of her daily routine. She found that being able to gain physical strength and mobility as well as calming and clearing her mind through the practice of Yoga has greatly empowered her and she hopes that her students can experience a glimpse of that in her class.

Deliah has trained with The Power Yoga Company, The Yoga People, Jadranko Miklec, Dieter Junk and Stefanie Erb and continuously looks to deepen her practice under the guidance of London’s many inspiring teachers. Expect a challenging and creative class supported through a strong breath, philosophical inspiration and a carefully selected soundtrack.

David Robert

Originally from Stirling, Scotland, David moved to London at the age of 18 to study Dance and Theatre Performance at Bird College. Since graduating in 2010 he has been lucky enough to perform in the West End, throughout the UK and abroad. In 2019, David qualified as a Level 3 Personal Trainer and shortly thereafter as a Certified Animal Flow Instructor. Committed to continually developing his skills and knowledge he most recently became a Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist and is in the process of obtaining his Level 3 Adapting Exercise for Ante and Post Natal Clients.

Sofia Healey

“Yoga is now a lifestyle for me ,that keeps my body and mind healthy ,and hopefully influences others in an equal positive way.

I started my yoga journey after having back problems and realised how beneficial it was on so many other levels. After a few years practicing I decided to share the practice and so I completed my 200 Hours ,in Hong Kong, under the guidance of Master Yogananth Andiappan.I enjoyed it so much I followed it with the 300 hours advanced hatha.I went on to teach privately, in studios ,and in the voluntary sector for a while and came back to the school later to do my Prenatal qualification as I had some pregnant students in my Hatha Classes and wanted to learn more!

Learning is the key word!I learn with my students in every class by paying attention to each one, getting to know their practice so I can help them progress.

My classes vary from more relaxed to challenging depending on the students and class vibe. I like to have music, use props and make the class accessible and fun, so students feel welcomed and are able to leave the class feeling they have achieved what they intended, whether that is a stronger core or a more balanced self!”

Maxine Samuels

Max came to yoga 20 years ago, using it as a restorative tool throughout her dance degree. Teaching is her passion, not only in yoga, but she has five years dance and 11 years Cycle Fit teaching experience.
She passed her 200 hr Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher training course in 2016, lead by Holly Warren. Although her class focuses heavily on asana technique, safe passage to a pose is big in her class, as well as yoga sequencing, yet she has a light- hearted and fun approach to yoga. She doesn’t like to stay within the confines of her style and has moments were she might pop a little something she’s loved from elsewhere and offers it to her pupils, just because, she says ‘if it feels good-why not!’. Her class also includes a light peppering of yoga philosophy and ensures she’s not too heavy on the Sanskrit. She encourages you to play no matter what level you’re at, whilst being mindful at the same time. “Take what you want from yoga and leave what you don’t – it’s all good” 🙂

Sarah Hansen

Self-taught as a teenager via the books borrowed from the local library, Sarah’s approach is deeply rooted in the therapeutic teachings of T.K.V. Desikachar and the viniyoga tradition; her first yoga teacher was viniyoga trained and she spent some years practicing and studying with Tara Fraser. Sarah qualified as a yoga teacher in 2013 with a 200hr diploma and has since gained further training in pre-natal yoga, post-natal yoga, yin yoga and embodied yoga practices. Sarah’s classes are gentle and nurturing; her primary focus as a teacher is encouraging her students to find balance, ease, strength and inner connection. She teaches movement focused on the individual and aims to create a safe and inclusive environment where students can fully explore themselves and inquire within. Sarah loves to teach beginners and has a particular interest in yoga for the female body at various points in the life-cycle.
